About this Course
29 million people in the world have already died of AIDS and
42 million are still living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
The virus continues to spread, causing nearly 17,000 new infections
each day and 15,000 people die of AIDS each day. This is truly
a global epidemic. Furthermore, the WHO estimates that there
is an annual incidence of 333 million cases of curable (not including
AIDS) Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) worldwide.
This diploma course is suitable both for people already working
in or intending to work in healthcare or related professions;
charities, government organisations, NGOs, religious organisations
or institutes, local authorities and other non-profit-making
organisations. It is also for those people who intend to work
as any of the following: social workers, homelessness officers,
welfare officers, humanitarian personnel, nurses and midwives.
